Digital Euro: Merchants support a fast, innovative, and low-cost pan-European payment method

The Merchant Payments Coalition Europe calls in a joint statement on the establishment of a balanced digital euro project that secures fairer competition while reducing dependency on foreign payment actors and supporting EU competitiveness. The digital euro has the potential to place Europe at the forefront of payment technology. Merchants have a key role to play in promoting the use of the digital euro and should therefore be incentivised to promote it through an attractive & competitive fee model.
