Activities for sustainable food systems under the Code of Conduct for responsible business and marketing practices 

As a drafting organization and one of the first signatories to the Code, Independent Retail Europe fully endorses it by supporting its aspirational objectives and informing and engaging our membership on the Code. Our members recognise their responsibilities and contribute their fair share to preserving our planet for all future generations. They adopt strategies and take valuable initiatives for the economic, social and environmental dimension of sustainability, working hand in hand with customers, manufacturers and farmers.

 

The Brundtland Report defines sustainable development as development that “meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
