Competition rules

Certain types of agreements, such as information exchanges, purchasing agreements, agreements on commercialisation and standardisation agreements are indispensable to the functioning of groups of independent retailers. They have many pro-competitive effects, which undoubtedly benefit consumers.

We aim to obtain maximum flexibility in competition rules to enable networks of independent retailers to function efficiently. This is particularly important in e-commerce/cross-channel markets where our members need to be able to e.g. set up centralised webshops. The review of the competition rules on vertical agreements will be our main focal point in the coming years. Furthermore, we wish to maintain the existing rules on selective distribution systems as well as the current legal framework on franchising which create the right balance on rights and obligations between the parties in such systems.
